Drum & Container Loading Information

Drum specification (standard used for packing):

• Contents per drum (net oil): 180.0 kg
• Drum tare weight (empty steel drum): 8.5 kg
• Drum gross weight (full): 188.5 kg (180.0 + 8.5)
• Drum external dimensions: Diameter = 58 cm (0.58 m), Height = 92 cm (0.92 m)
• Maximum stacking: 2 layers (stack height 0.92 m × 2 = 1.84 m — fits typical reefer internal height)

Assumptions used for loading calculations:

• We use a square grid packing model (drums placed upright in rows and columns) based on drum diameter = 0.58 m.
• Container internal floor areas assumed (typical internal dimensions):
  • 20′ reefer internal length ≈ 5.90 m, width ≈ 2.35 m
  • 40′ (standard/HC) reefer internal length ≈ 12.03 m, width ≈ 2.35 m
• Drums per row = floor length ÷ drum diameter (integer count), drums per column = floor width ÷ drum diameter (integer count).
• We allow a small conservative margin (≈ 5%) to account for door space, gaps, handling, and lashing. This produces a conservative loading figure suitable for quoting to customers.
• These calculations assume no palletization. Using pallets or crates will reduce the number of drums per container — ask us for palletized loading plans on request.

Notes:

• Theoretical drums-per-layer were calculated by integer packing: 20′: floor_length 5.90m → 10 drums along length; width 2.35m → 4 drums across → 10×4 = 40 drums/layer. 40′: floor_length 12.03m → 20 drums along length; width 4 across → 20×4 = 80 drums/layer.
• Stacking two layers (2 × 0.92 m = 1.84 m) fits typical reefer heights (≈ 2.39 m internal for 20′, ≈ 2.69 m for 40′ HC) with headroom for lashing.
• If you require palletized loading (e.g., 2 drums per pallet or full pallet pattern) or need certified lashing/IMSAP packing, the number of drums per container will decrease; please request a palletized loading plan and revised quote.
• Gross weight shown is an estimate for cargo planning. Final gross weights will depend on actual drum weights, any additional packaging (pallets, lashings), and final loading configuration. We provide precise packing lists and verified container weights at shipment.
